Essay Writing 1: Students taking this course tackle the basics of both paragraph and essay writing skills. Meaning, students are not expected to master writing paragraphs and essays in this course, only to achieve a firm understanding of what makes a good paragraph or essay.
The objectives of this course are many. The most important of which are:
1- For student to form a cohesive and concrete understanding of the types of paragraphs, essays and how to distinguish between the different types.
2- For students to learn the basics of the writing process, such as brainstorming, idea generation...., etc.
3- For students to learn the different writing styles in English.
4-For students to use what they learn in thia particular course to help them with writing assignments in other courses.
5- For students to be as comfortable as possible performing writing assignments due in a very limited period of time, such as on tests, quizzes, ....,ets.
This course , in particular, requires extensive writing from students.
The activities of this course involve many writing assignments done as a homework or in class.
This course acts as the stepping stone for Academic writing. It is the key to succes in all other courses. In keeping with the general tone of things, students who fail to achieve proper academic progress in this course will almost definitely fail to do so in all other courses. it is a logical selection of topics that will aid in the success of students in all other areas of their English academic life.
